Finding Our Way in Tech, Fiber Arts, and Alaskan Life
Hi there! We’re Pete and Alexis, an Alaskan couple navigating life with a love for open technology, creativity, and the unique experiences our state offers. As a husband and wife team, we bring a strong work ethic and a dedication to the things that make us tick—craftsmanship, quick turnaround on projects, and that magical balance between concept and execution.
This blog, Peterson’s Input / Output, is our way of sharing the insights, skills, and hobbies that make our life here in Alaska so fulfilling. From tech advice to family adventures, we’re excited to share our story with you.
Who Are The Peterson’s
Pete Peterson
Tech Enthusiast & Problem Solver
I’m Pete, the “Input” in Peterson’s Input / Output! I’ve been in the tech field for years, with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Western Governors University. My background includes everything from networking and cybersecurity to programming and data management, and I’m passionate about open-source tools that prioritize freedom and privacy.
For me, tech is more than a job; it’s a way to empower people to be more independent and intentional with the tools they use. Here on the blog, you’ll find my take on alternatives to creating your own secure systems—all from the perspective of someone who values autonomy as much as efficiency.
Alexis Peterson
Numbers Guru & Creative Soul
Hi! I’m Alexis, the “Output” half of our duo. As the family’s financial brain, I work behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. I hold an Associate of Applied Science in General Business from Matanuska-Susitna College, and my expertise covers a range of areas, from finance and management to marketing and strategy.
But life isn’t all spreadsheets! I’m also deeply into fiber arts, especially crochet, which adds a creative and hands-on balance to our tech-focused life. You’ll find me sharing project ideas, tips, and reflections on the blog—whether it’s about the latest scarf pattern or the satisfaction of a well-done DIY.
Life in Alaska
We both grew up with a deep appreciation for Alaska’s beauty and challenges. Life up north is something special, and it teaches you to be resourceful, adaptable, and resilient. We take these values into our work, building solutions that are strong, adaptable, and sustainable. This blog is a space for us to share that lifestyle, whether it’s a out-door adventure, a new fiber or tech project, or just a journal of our life in the far north.
Peterson Commitment:
Together, we’re dedicated to providing businesses with secure, reliable, and open solutions that break free from big tech’s hold. Our vision goes beyond just technology—we aim to create meaningful connections and empower others to take control of their digital lives with the right tools, knowledge, and support.
